This course is aimed to introduce two foundational thoughts of Western culture, Graeco-Roman and Judaeo-Christian, examinging Greek and Roman history, philosophy, mythology, literature, and art, together with the Bible, a history of Judaism and the early Christianity. Students will make themselves familiar with such knowledge, which could enable them to learn and to understand the way in which the tradition of English Literature have been influenced by two great pillars of civilization.
