Nano-materials are becoming critically important in much of modern technology. The properties and performances of ceramics are largely controlled by chemical natures of nano materials such as local structure, chemical bonding, composition, microstructure, and synthesis and processing procedures.

The importance of these concepts and parameters and their role and the properties of engineering ceramics will be covered in the following topics.
