본 과목은 특정 재화를 생산하는 제조업의 생산시스템은 물론 병원, 학교 및 공공행정서비스 등의 모든 생산적 프로세스를 효율적이고 효과적으로 경영관리 하기 위한 이론과 구체적인 방법을 연구하는 목적을 가지고 있다. 시스템에 대한 과학적이고 체계적인 이해, 생산전략, 능력계획, 생산계획 및 품질과 정보시스템을 비롯한 제반 현장 혁신방법론과 관리 기법들을 다룬다. 본 과목은 생산운영 분야의 핵심과목으로 이후의 관련 분야 과목의 중추가 되므로 모든 경영학 수강생들의 기본 수강이 강력히 요구되는 교과목이다.
