본 강좌는 영미언어문화학부의 핵심 콘텐트 교과목 중의 하나로서 문화에 대한 심도있는 이해를 바탕으로 학생들로 하여금 전공에 대한 학문적 정체성을 확립하고자 개설한 교과목이다. 문화라는 용어가 최근의 대표적인 학문적 트렌드가 되고 있지만 정작 그것이 무엇을 의미하고 어떤 의미에서 그와 같은 트렌드를 형성하고 있는지에 대한 이해는 여전히 빈곤한 실정이다. 본 강좌는 문화 그리고 문화현상에 대한 이론적 점검을 통해 문화의 의미를 제고하고 우리의 삶과 학문에서 그것이 어떤 위치를 차지하고 있는지 살피게 될 것이다.
