Settling In captures the excitement and pressure of the lead up to Christmas for two newly qualified teachers, Tara and Rosie, in their induction year. The programme provides an insight into the typical phases and problems that most NQTs experience, highlighting areas of concern and awareness at the end of the first term. Tara and Rosie have opted to start out at inner-city schools in London. For both, this is a major change from their previous teaching practice and brings new challenges. This episode maps out Tara and Rosie's progress from mid-term exhaustion through to managing the off-curriculum Christmas festivities. The two newly qualified teacherss in this programme come from very different backgrounds and have two very different approaches to teaching but as the term ends they agree on one point: it's time for a break. This programme explores how Tara and Rosie are settling in to the school and if their teaching career has got off to a good start.
