수학의 유한 구조를 다루는 이산수학은 컴퓨터의 발달과 함께 그의 중요성이 날로 더해지고 있다. 컴퓨터는 기본적으로 유한구조를 갖는다. 그러므로 컴퓨터의 여러성질들은 수학의 유한체계 안에서 해석되고 이해될 수 있다.

학습 목표는 조합 해석, 차분 방정식, lattices, Boolean algebra, formal languages, complexity, theory, coding theory, cryptography, propositional calculus등의 내용을 습득하는 것이다.
