In Wales teachers no longer have to deal with SATS or National Curriculum Tests (NCTS) at the end of KS2, with the onus of assessment resting on the schools and teachers. To find out more about what's been happening we've taken Llyn Codling, Headteacher at Isambard Brunel Junior School in Portsmouth, across the border to visit a cluster of schools in Cardiff including Fairweather Primary School, Peter Lea Primary School, Pentrebane Primary School and Cantonia Primary School. They're involved in a cross-phase moderation project that's aimed at ensuring their assessment of pupils is fair, and that the data gathered has as much impact as possible on the transition to secondary.
