본 과목은 화재하중 및 강도가 높은 특수 방호공간에 설치하는 소화설비를 강의하는 과목이다. 따라서 본 소화시스템에 사용하는 소화약제는 모두 가스상으로 분사되기 압축된 상태에서 사용하기 때문에 수계 소화시스템과는 큰차이가 있다. 분말약제로 분사되는 설비도 있으나 이 설비도 가스계소화설비로 취급하고 있다.
