본 수업은 세계의 다양한 종교를 연구함으로써 학생들로 하여금 문화적 다양성의 의미와 가치를 이해할 수 있게 할 뿐 아니라, 그들의 삶을 더욱 윤택하게 만들어 줄 세계관을 형성하는 데 도움을 주는 것을 그 목적으로 합니다. 본 과목은 인문학적 맥락에서 종교를 이해하는 데 역점을 둡니다. 아울러 학생들이 동서양의 다양한 종교문화가 제시하는 영성의 지혜를 깊이 이해하고 성찰함으로써 ‘이웃을 위한 사람’으로서 개인의 내면적 가치를 정립하고 다시 이를 실천적 삶으로 이어갈 수 있는 수준까지 성장할 수 있도록 돕는 것 또한 목적으로 하고 있습니다.
