Professor Lynn McDonald talks about socially marginalised families and the importance of working with entire communities to encourage education. Through visiting challenging communities and failing schools across America, Lynn describes how the Families and Schools Together (FAST) programme has helped children achieve academically. By working with community leaders, teachers, and social services, Lynn says recruiting and retaining growing numbers of parents in parenting support programmes is very possible.
