This is a lesson starter on fractions, designed for use in a KS3 maths lesson. The problem: Presenter Isaac Anoom challenges students to put these five fractions in order from the smallest to the largest: 1/9, 2/17, 3/29, 4/33, 5/43. Isaac explains that the traditional method of finding a common denominator and then comparing the numerators will be awkward for these fractions. Instead, he demonstrates how reciprocal fractions could to solve the problem. See the accompanying lesson notes for worked solutions.
