이 강좌는 다양한 영어음의 음성현상과 체계를 분석하고 조음, 음향 등의 이론과 실제를 습득함과 동시에 음운론의 기초를 다지는 영어음성학 수업이다. 구체적으로 영어의 자음과 모음의 발음원리를 살펴보고, 자음과 모음의 음향학적 특징을 음성분석을 통해 자세히 파악해본다. 또한 영어의 음절구조, 강세 및 리듬, 억양 등에 관한 초분절적 특성들도 다양한 예들을 통해 이해하고 실생활의 적용방안에 대해 연구해본다

This course is an introduction to English phonetics and phonology, the study of English sounds and their patterns. It is designed to provide students with the basic concepts and major topics of English phonetics and phonology, including English consonants, vowels, phonemes, syllables, stress, rhythm, intonation, etc. Students are supposed to read the assigned reading material(s) before the class.

6.	운율론적 자질과 음성학연습문제(1)	영어의 운율론적, 초분절음적 자질에 대한 설명 To explain English prosodic, supra-segmental features
7.	운율론적 자질과 음성학연습문제(2)	음성학 연습문제 풀이을 통한 복습 To review English phonetics by solving phonetics questions
8.	음운론과 음소, 이음	음운론의 기본 개념 및 음소 설명 To introduce phonology and explain phonemes and allophones
