품질관리의 입문과정으로서 의의와 각종의 동계적 방법에 대한 기초이론을 이해시키는데 목적을 둔다.품질의 정의, 변동의 의미, 공정의 이해, 관리도 이론 및 작성 요령, 공정의 해석, 공정능력 분석, 공정의 개선 등을 다룬다, 특히 품질관리의 기본적인 도구 즉 히스토그램, 파레토그림, 산점도, 특성요인도, 층별, 체크사이트, 그래프, 등을 eZSPC소프트웨어를 이용하여 배운다.
