The goal of this class is to introduce students to understanding of modern plastic arts in various domains (architecture, sculpture, painting, design, craft, digital art, etc.), understanding of historical & analytical critics of plastic arts and understanding of history, art and culture at the same times. A historical perspective, the contents of this class is mainly composed of 19th to 20th century visual arts. By the end of the course, students will have an outline of modern art, a comprehension of the relation between art and history during the 20th century, a basic ability to describe and to interpret contemporary art and knowledge of the different materials and techniques used in modern art.
