본 교과목은 녹색 식물의 광합성, 대사, 성장, 환경에 대한 반응, 식물-미생물 연관성, 발생과정, 통제와 조절, 호르몬의 작용 및 조절에 대한 최신 논문의 소개를 통하여 융합생명공학을 전공으로 하는 학생들이 알아야할 생명현상에 대한 포괄적인 지식을 심도 있게 제공하고자 한다.
