언어학은 인간의 고유한 특성 중의 하나인 언어를 객관적인 견지에서 연구 대상으로 하여 언어의 본질이 무엇인지 규명하고 이를 바탕으로 인간의 본질을 이해하는 학문이다. 이를 위해 본 과목에서는 언어의 핵심적인 구성요소인 소리, 소리체계, 단어, 의미, 문장 단위에서의 각 특성과 언어 외적인 요소들을 현대 언어학의 이론에 기초하여 살펴본다,
