대학생으로서의 학문을 하는데 필요한 교양과 전공학습에 필요한 예비지식을 영어를 통해 습득하기 위하여 대학신입생들을 대상으로 개설한 교양필수과목임.
대학 지성인으로서의 “교양” 함양과 대학교육에서 필요한 독해능력 증진을 위해 다양한 주제의 글들을 영어 원문으로 읽는다.
a. 다양한 주제별 자료를 통해 독해능력을 향상시킨다.
b. 어휘를 습득하고 문장구조를 이해한다.
c. 영어권의 문화에 대한 시각을 넓힌다.
