This course provides guidance about how to identify materials, mainly organic compounds, from the synergistic information afforded by the combination of mass, infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance, and ultraviolet spectra. The features of this class are to learn not only the principles but also to provide plenty of practical quizzes to obtain deeper understanding. In addition to spectroscopy, a brief introduction of X-ray crystallography essential for identification of organic-inorganic hybrid materials will be given.
