This course provides an introduction to materials science to understand a role of chemical process in development and applications of materials. For theoretical approaches to the structure-property relationships of solids, the following topics will be integrated in this course: atomic bonding, structure of crystalline materials, imperfections in solids, diffusion in solids, phase diagrams, phase transformations, mechanical properties, electrical properties, thermal properties, magnetic properties, and optical properties.
