이 강좌는 고대로부터 현대에 이르는 한국의 불서 출판 문화의 역사적 흐름과 그 연구사적 가치를 이해하는데 있습니다.

The purpose of this course is to understand the historical flow of Buddhist literature printing and culture in Korea, including from ancient times to the present and its historical value. Korea has the world's oldest collection of wood-block prints and the world's first collection of metal type text. The various Buddhist works have played a major role in the development of our printing culture. In this course, learners will understand the history of Buddhist printing as follows: Buddhist scriptures of the Shilla era, the Tripitaka, Buddhist commentaries (Gyojang) and metal movable type prints of the Koryŏ period, the royal family and temple books of the Joseon period, and the Buddhist books and digital archives of the modern and contemporary period.

동아시아 불교의 확산과 더불어 각 나라에서는 경전을 비롯한 다양한 종류의 불서가 전래되어 왔다.
불서는 필사와 간행을 통해 국내 및 국외에 유통되었고, 대장경 등의 대규모 간행 사업이 국가와 사원에서 이루어졌다.
한국은 현존하는 최초의 목판본과 최초의 금속활자본을 보유하고 있다.
이 강좌에서는 신라시대 사경으로부터 고려시대의 대장경, 교장 및 금속활자본, 조선시대의 왕실본과 사찰본, 근현대의 불서와 디지털아카이브 등을 살펴본다. 이를 통해 고대로부터 현대에 이르는 한국의 불서 출판 문화의 역사적 흐름과 그 연구사적 가치를 이해할 수 있을 것이다.
