The Big Debate, chaired by Krishnan Guru-Murthy, examines the arguments about safety both inside and outside school. There are growing calls from business leaders and child welfare experts that children should be exposed to more risk to help them cope with the realities of the modern world. But an increase in the levels of risk that children face is statistically certain to lead to more failures, accidents and even deaths, should schools relax their rigorous approaches to health and safety? Have schools got the balance right?
