This programme looks at how a revolutionary approach to teaching and learning is being implemented at a school in Derbyshire as part of the new approach to the KS3 curriculum. Pupils at Glossopdale Community College are using an integrated curriculum, known as C3. Each half term one topic is selected - and this becomes a focus for the teaching of a whole range of subjects. The programme shows how Chatsworth House, one of the great stately homes of England, can inspire lessons in dance, drama and music, in ICT, history and geography, in food technology and even in resistant materials. We see pupils designing a board game based on life in the 17th century and composing a piece of music inspired by the great house. Teachers speak not only about how the integrated curriculum works, but on how they mastered a new way of working. For instance, one-hour lessons have been abandoned and subject divisions torn up. Teachers speak frankly regarding the challenges and rewards of the new approach.
