고급 수학을 공부 하려고 하면 첫 단계로 배워야 할 과목은 대학수학(Calculus) 다음에 해석학(Analysis)과 선형대수학(Linear Algebra)이다. 이 두 과목은 수학 전공의 기본일 뿐 아니라 수학을 응용하는 모든 분야에서 필수로 수강해야 할 과목이다. 그 중 선형대수학은 벡터와 행렬에 대한 과목으로 모든 분야에 쓰인다.
