In this lecture Roehampton University lecturer Miles Berry spends some time discussing the place of group work in learning with technology, as well as asking the students to share their experience of online communities and networks. He presents some key education theories: social contructivism, Vygotsky's zone of proximal development, and Wenger's community of practice, focussing on their relation to ICT. He also introduces open source and creative commons as approaches to software development and resource sharing. Miles then encourages his students to explore the online Scratch community, evaluating some of the pupil projects which have been uploaded to the site, and perhaps contributing some of their own work, reading through and engaging with the discussion forums. Miles also asks students to offer feedback on each other's projects.
