In the last 50 years, solid state devices like transistors have evolved from an interesting laboratory experiment to a technology with applications in all aspects of modern life. Making transistors is a complex process that requires unprecedented collaboration among material scientists, solid state physicists, chemists, numerical analysts, and software professionals. The goals of this course are to provide the student an understanding of the fundamental physics of semiconductor and introduction of semiconductor devices. The basic knowledge will make up the foundation required for an electrical engineering to take follow-on courses, and is directly applied to understand the operation and limitations of the three primary electronic devices: 1) PN junction diodes, 2) bipolar transistor, and 3) MOS field effect transistors. The fundamental concepts that you will learn in this introductory course will provide you the necessary background for new development in semiconductor devices and inte
